Fiona designed this beautiful quilt based on Multnomah Falls, Oregon. She says she changed the design considerably from the actual photo, so now it is a "fantasy place I would love to visit". She used the techniques in Cynthia's "Picture Piecing - Creating Dynamic Pictorial Quilts" book. Fiona says the quilt was original designed to have 5000-6000 pieces, but "by using terrific fabrics, it came down to about 1500-2000 pieces".

She says "Even now after 7 years of making these quilts, I still think about the technique every day and how much I love it. People think I'm a genius but I have to tell them, it's the technique. They do not believe it is as simple as it is. I still promote the technique everywhere I go and give people your website address and encourage them to buy the book."

Another of Fiona's quilts - Rialto Bridge, Venice is also featured in our student showcase. Be sure to look for it!
